One thing I wish churches knew about video, huh?
This is going to be a fun one.
For those of you who do not already know, when I’m not doing my “Digi” thing, I’m usually editing or managing video projects. Video editing has always brought me a great deal of joy and I’m honored to do it as part of my weekly working hours.
So what’s the one thing I wish churches knew about video?
This is going to sound simple, but hang in there.
Video is a communication tool. And it’s one of the most effective out there.
See, faith leaders are often very well-versed in communication. Many have gone to seminary and been trained in the art of preaching and teaching and caring for others. We like communication, we like talking about communication, we like learning about communication.
Well video is one of the best ways you are ever going to find to digitally communicate with your people.
Communicate your message, your story, your faith, whatever you want!
If you want to do it effectively? Choose video.
I know this can be overwhelming if you’re still not comfy in front of a camera or sure how to manipulate and share the files… but think of it this way – you won’t be pouring tons and tons of time writing emails or formatting newsletters that no one is going to read anyway.
I’m not saying no one reads them… but… probably LESS people than would watch your videos.
People WILL watch your videos.
Can I say that? Just did.
AND you can repurpose your videos easily onto multiple platforms.
Make an epic teaching TikTok? Post it on IG Reels. YouTube Shorts. Send it in an email. Share it as a Story. You are going to reach people BIG TIME.
Record a sermon video? Now LOOK at all this footage that you have to chop up and share in different formats. Shorter 20 second clips, longer 2 minute chunks for Facebook and YouTube and even your Google Business Profile.
There’s so much potential.
And honestly – this is just the tip of the iceberg. If you want a more in depth analysis on your Digital Communications, our Digital Communications Review course is finally live, you can find it in the description below to see if it’s a good fit for you and your community.
